Sustaining the Heartbeat of the Chesapeake is a comprehensive docuseries aimed at celebrating the natural beauty of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, while shedding light on the conservation challenges it faces and highlighting conservation efforts within the region. Through nine different videos, we aim to tell the success stories of various organizations and individuals working toward land conservation and environmental justice. Each video, produed by Jamal Childs Jr., will feature cheerful narration, captivating visuals and heartfelt storytelling to inspire environmental awareness, promote conservation and advocate for environmental justice across the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

Evergreen Cemetery

Ongoing initiatives focus on restoring and maintaining the cemetery, which had fallen into disrepair due to neglect and lack of funding. Jamal Childs Jr., a Baltimore native and proud graduate of Coppin State University, is a dedicated professional specializing in podcast consultations, voiceovers, news articles and grant writing. With a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and a passion. for making innovative leadership accessible, Jamal leverages his skills in creative visual arts, poetry, podcasting, philosophy and writing to demystify complex academic language for a broad audience. His work with the Chesapeake Conservancy, where he researched and prepared strategies to support the conservation of 30% of watershed lands by 2030, showcases his abillity to blend scientific expertise with compelling storytelling. Through his multifaceted approach, Jamal is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of environmental issues while inspiring the next generation of leaders.
